Red Dead Redemption is one of the best western based games for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. There is a new addition to the game in the bonus pack called Red Dead Redemption: Liars and Cheats. This game is only available through downloading via the Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. The cost is relatively cheap, ten dollars or 800 Microsoft points, compared to what is offered in this expansion pack.
Gamers can go into the virtual world of gambling as well as getting a great new weapon that offers more fire power than the ones in the regular version. As for the gambling, players can sit down with the two hundred dollars in play money that they get every day and try to build up their bankrolls by playing the other poker players at the table. Just remember, the name of the game is liars and cheats so there is some bluffing and outright cheating being conducted.
There are also horse races where the gamer is pitted against others in order to cross the finish line. Weapons are a huge part of the race and many lose because they are shot in the back of the head or other places. Coming in last can be as good as first if all of the competition is killed first. Unfortunately, it is the Wild West so there are no bullet proof vests or helmets to protect the racers from unwanted gunfire.
Finally, gamers can expand the competitive and co operative play with the Stronghold mode where teams work together and against other teams to fulfill missions or to make sure that an area is secured from other teams that want to gain it. There are also some new gunslingers that can be chosen as a player’s main character making the game even more exciting. There are also new monsters in the way of cougars and other natural predators that would be found in the area at that time.
It seems as though a whole lot was loaded into this expansion pack and the gamer is definitely getting their money’s worth with the ten bucks they are spending on it. With all of the extra action, modes and gambling, players can spend hours just trying to figure out what to do first. Get a group together and start a Stronghold or sit at a poker table and try to get rich? The possibilities are endless.
