What’s that you say? A Starbucks opening in Seattle? Oh my! Normally there is nothing new about a Starbucks, or any coffee shop, reopening or opening in Seattle. I watched this new building progess over the last 2 months. A lonely Starbucks bus parked in front of it, still keeping it’s persistent presence on the block. Two days ago I got off the bus and was amazed to see it open. It seemed to happen quickly as things often do. The exterior of the building is nice: brick with a wooden deck. Headed on my way to the book store, I decided to pop in for a quick cup of coffee to tide me over the laborous task of drooling over all the books I would love to have the time to read. This was a simple trip but boy was I blown away.
There were velvet curtains pushed to the side in the entrance. Wood floors, beautiful little bistro tables, exposed wood columns. The place was bustling and packed. The smiles were consciously on every employee’s face. The chalk board sign in front of me informed me of a happy hour with beer and wine available.
I am a reluctant, closet Starbucks fan. It’s like the pop song I wish I didn’t like.
So I am not a Starbucks expert but I have never heard of one serving alcohol. I can get beer and coffee in a Starbucks. It blows me away but the snack platters were even better. Take your pick of mediterranean flare or the classic salami and cheese? Would you like organic dried fruit? There was much more and this was in addition to the usual Starbucks selections of yogurt, protein pack, fruit packs, veggie pack, and all the baked goodies.
They reopened on the previous Monday, October the 18th and needed extra help from other stores to handle the steady flow of customers. They open at 5am every day. On the weekdays they are open until 11pm and on weekends until 12am. Not to mention the shop is located on Belmont and E. Olive Way which is a lovely spot because of stunning views of downtown, the space needle and horizon.
This is the only Starbucks shop I have seen like this and if there is another I am unaware. If there is any Starbucks to visit, besides the original, this would be it. The atmosphere, the choices and the employees are lovely. Two thumbs way up!
