I’ve been to a few coffee shops around Seattle with a baby. None of them made me feel comfortable. Even if the staff was friendly, there was always someone shooting us a dirty look. Give us a break, people! Babies cry! Then Twirl Café, a place dedicated for mommies to relax and kids to play, opened in Upper Queen Anne. For a hard-working new mom uncomfortable at public places, this place sounds like heaven!
Created by a pair of Queen Anne parents, Twirl Café provides a comfortable environment for moms and dads to bring their children. There are play areas and classrooms for the kids and a café for the parents. It’s where children can play and parents can network and relax.
I was just there today and was impressed by how comfortable Twirl Café made me feel. Because all the customers either had babies or kids with them, nobody gave us dirty looks.
The staff was also understanding of everyone’s parental duties. They helped all the parents with their food and drinks when the kids needed attention.
While enjoying a cup of delicious latte on the leather couch at Twirl Café, I talked to several moms from different areas of Seattle. It was so nice talking to these ladies who are able to connect with me on motherhood.
I was only at Twirl Café for a couple of hours, but thoroughly enjoyed my time there! The place was comfortable and welcoming, the staff was super catering and all the parents I met there were really friendly. After a week of being holed up with a baby in the house, going to a place like Twirl Café was a refreshing break!
One thing you need to know about Twirl Café is that it does charge for play time. And of course, classes charge too. For info on rates and hours, please visit http://mytwirl.blogspot.com/
My experience at Twirl Café today was delightful! Unlike other coffee shops, full of adults on laptops or engaged in deep conversations, Twirl Café caters to parents and kids. I think Twirl Café is a creative idea, a wonderful environment and a place worth returning to.
