How I Decided to Go: It was simple, I went to a movie and was hungry after it. I first decided to go to Red Lobster’s; but as much as I love their food it had been a long day and I did not want to wait 35 minutes for a table. So I left in search of something new. As I was getting in my car I spotted a restaurant across the way: Garfield’s. I never heard of this place before; so I looked up the number on yp.com (yellow pages) and called. The lady on the phone was extremely nice and helpful. I asked her two simple questions: What’s on the menu? and How long is the wait time? She mentioned burgers, ribs, sandwiches, and pasta. There was also no wait time. So, me and my counterparts headed over to Garfield’s Restaurant and Pub.
Location(s): Garfield’s is located in fourteen (14) states in the United States of America. Some of which include the states of: Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. I went to one of the locations in Indiana–Terre Haute, IN.
Atmosphere: Restaurant and Pub are separate so family and kids are welcomed.
Deals: Kids Eat Free (12 and under) on Sunday (two per adult entrée).
The service: The service at Garfield’s Restaurant and Pub was great. As soon as we opened the door, we were greeted by a hostess. She took us right to our table. She showed us where the bathroom was (without anyone asking). Our drink orders were taking right away. I had a Diet Pepsi (one of my favorite drinks). We had time to survey the menu then our orders were taking and food was brought out shortly after.
The menu:The menu is very expansive, but nothing was really expensive. When the lady on the phone mentioned ribs; I thought I was going to get them right away. However, once I started looking at the menu it became hard for me to choose. The menu has nine (9) different food sections. They include the following: Appetizers, Salads & Soups; Sandwiches; Burgers; The Grill; Favorites; Pasta; Desserts; and Lunch Specials. Appetizers include, but are not limited to: Waffle Cheese Fries and Fried Mushrooms. Salad and Soups include, but are not limited to: Cranberry Walnut Chicken Salad, French Onion Soup, Loaded Baked Potato Soup and Chicken Quesadilla Salad. Sandwiches included, but are not limited to: Garfield’s Club Sandwich, Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and the Whaler Fish Sandwich. Burgers include, but are not limited to: Cheeseburgers, Turkey Burgers, and sliders. The Grill includes, but is not limited to: Honey Barbeque Baby Back Ribs and Steak and Shrimp. Favorites include, but are not limited to: Ultimate Combo, Fish & Chips, Sizzling Fajitas, and Crispy Fried Shrimp. Pasta includes: Chicken Alfredo, Shrimp Alfredo, Fiery Cajun Chicken and Chicken Parmesan. Lunch Specials (which become dinner specials for only $1.00 (1 dollar) more) includes, but is not limited to: Half Quesadilla, slider basket, Nacho Salad, Half-sandwich (choice of sandwich) and fries. Desserts include: Apple Crisp, Colossal New York Cheesecake, Pecan Brownie, and Chocolate Mountain.
My food: After scouring the delectable menu, I did end up choosing the Honey Barbeque Baby Back Ribs! Surprising, as I usually do not eat ribs at restaurants but they looked great. I got a choice of Half-Rack or Full-Rack. I chose the Half-rack. The ribs are slow-cooked with Garfield’s “sweet and sassy honey-barbeque sauce.” It is served with French fries and coleslaw. I am not a big fan of coleslaw so I was able to substitute the coleslaw for a bowl of French Onion Soup. I asked to have the French Onion Soup out first. The French Onion soup came out hot and ready about ten minutes later. The soup was simply divine. The Provolone cheese was melted just right on top of the beef stock and caramelized onions and sprinkled with garlic croutons. It did not take long for me to see the end of the bowl. Right after I finished my soup, my food was brought out. As mentioned, I usually do not eat ribs at restaurants; but these looked good on the menu. When it came out, I dug right in (forgetting to capture a picture). There was not one piece of rib not covered in meat or sauce. I finished them satisfied as they were delectable. I was never once hungry until lunch the next day.
The price: The price is great. Get a load of this: with my food and my sister’s food, my Diet Pepsi and her cappuccino the total bill was only $23.15. That is right, $23.15 (twenty-three dollars and fifteen cents). We had dinner and I had ribs. Not a bad price at all.
In conclusion, Garfield’s Restaurant and Pub is a great place for great fun, great family, and great food. The service at Garfield’s is friendly and helpful. The food is simply divine and delectable. The price is economical. If you ever spot a Garfield’s Restaurant and Pub, stop in for their friendly service; great food; and affordable prices!
