Many new retro gaming systems are for sale on the market. Some of the systems work fine but some do not work well at all. Some of the systems play only one kind of games but some play as many as three different kinds of games. As many people are aware of China made products can be very cheap quality and most of these systems are made in China. The quality of the machines range from poor to excellent though. This means you will want to learn how the system compare before you buy one. The NES Portable System with Wireless Light Gun is one of these retro systems. If you want to know how the NES Portable System compares to other retro systems then read on.
The NES Portable System with Wireless Light Gun is a NES system. Unlike most retro systems though this system is portable. The portability may be of interest to some. However if you think about it for jsut a few seconds you will realize how sill the idea is. The NES cartridges alone are bigger then most portable systems. The machine eats up energy like crazy. The screen is to small.
Some of the portable problems could be overcome though. The NES Portable System can be played from your TV using cables which are included. You can play two players hooked up to a TV. So ultimately the machine becomes a home retro system. Unfortunately however being portable is a problem because you can not use your own controllers. That means peripherals will not be used. Most NES only retro systems let you use original NES controllers so that is a major drawback but it is not the only problem with this machine.
Lots of China made retro systems are total junk and this machine is one of those. The funny thing about it is that most modern made retro systems have all kinds of problems with the controllers they come with. Using a wireless system you would expect even more problems but the controllers that come with the system actually work well. The system itself is poorly made. Many games wont even play. The cables are all located in really odd places and get in the way.
This machine is way more expensive then most NES only systems. Most of the cost must be in the controllers since they are the only thing that works. At $45 these are some expensive controllers though. You can buy systems that play multiple systems for the same price or less. You can even get much better quality NES only systems for half the price.
The funny thing is the addition of the light gun. The light gun does not play well on a portable system and most modern TV’s will not work with it.
The NES Portable System is a piece of junk. I could not recommend it to anyone for any reason.
