Since we intended on staying home and watching the Packers play on TV this past weekend, my wife decided to run up the street to the grocery store and pick up some stuff for sandwiches.
We already had bread (we purchased a loaf the day before) so I wasn’t expecting her to bring home anything but the lunch meat and maybe some cheese. But, she surprised me by bringing home something else; Arnold Sandwich Thins Fill Ems.
I have had Arnold’s flat bread before but this was something that took it to a different level because, instead of putting the meat on the bread, you put it inside the bread.
To be perfectly honest, I really wasn’t overly interested in trying this when I first saw it. It was different. But, I didn’t think it was anything that really made it worth the extra money she spent. Even the fact it advertised itself as having only 100 calories really didn’t do too much to convince me otherwise; mostly because I couldn’t tell you how many calories regular white bread has.
However, as I was eating my regular sandwich on white bread, I did find myself wondering if I was missing out on something and I ultimately decided to give this a try. Unfortunately, even after trying it, I came away with the same opinion I had before; it wasn’t worth the extra money.
I think the biggest reason I didn’t like this particular product was the taste. To be fair, it did end up being better than I expected it to be. But, that just wasn’t enough. It wasn’t terrible when I was actually eating it but the bread did leave a weird after taste in my mouth I just don’t get with other kinds of bread.
I also was a bit disappointed the Fill Ems didn’t hold all that much. I like a lot of lunchmeat on my sandwiches, along with cheese and the occasional tomato. I can do that with two slices of bread. I could not do that with this product.
As is the case with most things, this is just my opinion of the product and I’m sure there are people out there who will have a different one. In fact, some, like my wife, might prefer these to regular bread. However, while my wife might consider buying them again, I know I wouldn’t waste my money on them.
