As I have mentioned in the past, I am making a serious effort to cut back on my soda drinking and try to substitute water whenever I can. Since bottle water would get too expensive (I drink a lot of water in one sitting), I try to buy it by the gallon.
The gallon we had in the fridge ran out this past weekend so I headed to the store to buy a replacement (we needed milk anyway). The store had a limited supply available so I was just going to go with the store brand. But, I noticed Buffalo Don’s Natural Artesian Drinking Water instead and, even though it was slightly more expensive ($1.15), I decided to give it a try.
I’m going to be honest, when I bought this product; my decision was based solely on the name. This is actually pretty unusual for me but, even though Buffalo Don’s doesn’t really sound exotic or anything, it was catchy enough to make me curious.
Had I thought this through and purchased the cheaper store brand instead, I probably wouldn’t be regretting my decision today.
I won’t say the water was bad because it wasn’t. In fact, I think it tasted much cleaner than another brand of water I recently purchased (and absolutely despised). The problem with it, in my opinion, is it wasn’t anything special. I drank my first glass of it Sunday night and my first thought was it tasted a lot like tap water. If this would have been the much cheaper store brand of water, I would have been able to live with that. But, if a gallon of water is more than $1, I do have higher expectations.
The water also didn’t pass my room temperature test. By this, I mean it doesn’t taste very good if it isn’t refrigerated first. This means it isn’t a brand I would be able to take to work with me since I wouldn’t be able to refrigerate it there.
Again, had this brand been cheaper, I probably would have been able to overlook some of the things I didn’t like about it. But, because it is a brand I do have to spend more money on, I honestly can’t see any reason why I would buy this again; especially since it wasn’t any better than the much cheaper store brand I could have and should have purchased instead.
