Super Smoocher was part of a tote bag kit, a new product recently offered by Everyday Minerals. Though the kit is sold out now, the lipsticks are also sold separately and are available for $8. At first, I was rather doubtful towards this lipstick color. I have thicker lips than most people, so bright colors often look overdone on me. I decided that I’d try this out anyway.
I first applied a light layer on my lips, and found a lovely red-purple color. The lipstick spread smoothly, much better than “Bohemian Wonderer.” Applying more pressure yields a darker, burgundy like color. The lipstick in its package appears to be a mix between burgundy, violet, and brown. Thus, the lipstick turned out to have various uses, depending on the occasion. A light layer is very wearable, especially for me, but a thicker layer is great for special occasions.
The lipstick itself comes in a plastic, cylindrical container that screws up like a traditional lipstick. However, the tip of the lipstick is different from the traditional lipstick. Instead of being tapered or pointed, it is rounded at the top, making accurate application slightly more difficult than a traditional lipstick.
The packaging of the lipstick also feels cheap. Because it is made out of plastic, it is even less durable than normal lipsticks. And my lipstick turned out to have a defect! The cylindrical container had a crack in the bottom. And because the lipstick extends past the twist tube, it got nicked within the first few uses. In addition, during use, the lipstick hits the side of the tube if you are not careful, making breakage extremely easy.
Like the rest of Everyday’s minerals, Super Smoocher does smell a little strange. It’s not strong enough to really be a bother, but it seems a little distracting. It’s hard to describe, but it smells slightly like sunflower seeds, as it is made out of sunflower seed oil.
Overall, I found Super Smoocher to be a lovely color, and applied so smoothly. I also loved that the lipstick is made with all-natural ingredients. However, the packaging is a big problem for me. It looks elegant and sophisticated, but it is not really high quality, and this lipstick does contain less product than traditional ones. Getting it in a kit is worth it, but I don’t know if I would pay $8 for the full-size individual product.
