I had to stop off at the grocery store this morning to replenish my supply of Mountain Dew (and I really needed it this morning after a long night with the little one). While there, I decided to look for something to snack on later that was both somewhat healthy and a bit different from my normal snacks. And, when I came across a bag of Goodniks Roasted and Salted Pumpkin Seeds for just $1.50, I decided to buy those.
It had been a long while since I had eaten pumpkin seeds and, after trying the Goodniks brand this morning, I immediately remembered I really didn’t like pumpkin seeds. However, I did give enough of these a try to know, if I had liked this particular snack, this would be a brand I would buy again.
One of the things I liked about this particular brand was the fact you could either eat just the pumpkin seed kernels or you could eat them with the shell on them. I think this is something most brands offer. But, this brand picked seeds that had softer shells so it was easy to eat them without having to go through the hassle of removing the outer shell first.
In terms of taste, I really can’t complain. Like I said before, I’m not a huge pumpkin seed fan (the kernels tend to get caught in my throat; especially if I leave the shell on them). But, the flavor was much better than I expected. I didn’t really taste much in terms of a roasted flavor. However, there was a light coating of salt on each of them; enough to add flavor without making the snack too salty for me (a problem I have had with plenty of other snack foods in the past).
I also have to compliment the quantity inside the bag. I only had a few of these. But, I took the bag out to our break area so everyone at work could have some and, even after several people had a fair share of the seeds, there were still quite a few left in the bag; more than I would expect for just $1.50. I even had enough to take home to the squirrels.
Once again, the Goodniks brand proved to be a great bargain. As I said before, I probably won’t buy pumpkin seeds again. But, I did enjoy them just enough to justify considering other snack foods from this brand in the future.
