A week or so ago, my wife and daughters and I were out doing some grocery shopping and we came across someone offering free samples of Grandpa Rechek’s Garlic Ring Bologna.
We were a bit hungry at the time (we were actually in that part of town because we planned on attending a brat fry being held by our church) and decided to give it a try. We were so impressed with it, we ended up buying one to make at home.
Whenever I get a free sample of food, I always have some doubts about it because part of me suspects it might be doctored up a bit by the person trying to get us to buy it. However, after finally making it last night, I can tell you that was not the case. This ring bologna is easily one of the best ones I have ever eaten.
First of all, the garlic flavoring in it is absolutely perfect. There is enough garlic to give the ring bologna a somewhat unique taste from regular ring bologna. But, the garlic only compliments the meat; it isn’t the only thing you taste when you take a bite.
Another thing I liked about this ring bologna is the skin wasn’t too thick. I have had a few in the past that I needed a steak knife to cut and a few that I couldn’t eat with the skin on them. I could cut this particular one with my fork and had no reason to remove the skin.
To give you an idea about how much I liked this particular ring bologna; I normally will only have one serving of most other brands. I went back for seconds with this brand.
I will say the Grandpa Rechek’s ring bologna was much smaller than several other brands we have purchased in the past (and roughly the same price as those larger bolognas). And, because of this, we weren’t sure if it would be enough. However, even though it did look a bit small, there must have been more to it than we realized because there is more than enough leftovers for my wife and me to each have some for lunch.
If you are looking for some sort of meat to have for dinner, I would definitely recommend this product. In fact, even if you don’t normally like ring bologna, I would be willing to bet you would like this particular one.
