We were putting the kids in the tub last night about 7 when I realized that I had forgotten to pick up some cat food earlier in the day. Since I knew our cat would not be happy with just dry food for the night, I decided to run up the street to Walgreen’s to pick up a couple of cans.
Unlike most trips to this particular store, I stayed on task and didn’t wander around looking at other items. However, I got stuck in line behind one of the customers from Hell (the one that insists on paying in exact change but has to dig through their purse for 20 minutes looking for a dime) and, because of that, ended up checking out some of the items near the checkout counter.
One item that caught my eye was a bag of Haribo Gummi Bears. I had recently seen a television advertisement for these (or at least a brand like them) and, since it had been forever since I had had any brand of gummy bear, I decided to spend the $1.50 on the bag.
As I mentioned before, it has been a while since I have had any brand of this particular snack. But, if the Haribo brand is a good example of what I’ve been missing, I honestly don’t think I was missing too much.
I opened up the bag of these as soon as I got them home and was absolutely shocked by how hard these things were to chew. They were little gummy bears so I figured I could eat three or four at a time. But, they were very tough. And, I wasn’t the only one who thought this. I gave my wife her favorite, green, and offered her another one a couple minutes later. She was still chewing the first one. It made me glad I didn’t give any of these to our youngest daughter.
As far as taste goes, they were OK but nothing special. If anything, I thought the taste was a bit strong. It wasn’t so bad when we were just eating one at a time. But, again, this is the type of snack I would prefer to eat several at a time.
Since it had been a while since I had tried gummy bears, I was glad I purchased this bag. However, after trying them, I do think it will be the last time I purchase this product.
