After hearing about my friend’s bad experience with a Lancome toner, I was hesitant to try mine. The tonique confort comes in an adorable pink, plastic container with a semi-opaque liquid inside. My first impression of the packaging is excellent. It is durable, and it looks spill proof when closed properly. The cherry on the cake is the aesthetics of the packaing. After screwing off the cap, I find a small blocker with a hole to control the amount of toner dispensed, a good idea for those afraid of spilling.
I tried applying the toner with a cotton round, but it seemed that the cotton round only soaked up the liquid. It was not watery enough to soak through a cotton round, and I felt like I was wasting product by dumping it on the cotton round, especially because the product is expensive ($24.50). In comparison to other “high-end” products, it is not too bad, but it is still a little pricey for me.
I decided to apply the toner directly to my fingertips, and then to my face. That for me was a bummer. I worry about sanitation, and I do not think the best way to apply is with the fingers. It is uneven and not precise. However, I have not discovered a better way to use the product without using massive amounts on a cotton round or ball.
Despite this shortcoming, the product itself is absolutely amazing! The toner has a light, elegant fragrance to it. It is light and not overpowering, and it smells very inoffensive. I think that everyone would enjoy the scent (minus those who are extremely sensitive to new scents; I myself am rather sensitive to certain scents, but this one is no problem for me).
After only a day of use, I could definitely see a difference. My skin was definitely smoother, felt fresher and just all around better. I suspect that this toner played a part in fixing a few trouble spots on my skin that had been bothering me for a while. It wasn’t drying like other toners I have tried, and surprise! It does not smell a bit like alcohol, nor does it feel like it contains alcohol. It truly is a toner for comfort, as they advertise.
Overall, I love the product itself, and am in love with the cute packaging. I have some trouble applying it because I am afraid to waste product, but otherwise, it is truly an excellent product, and well worth the high price. If you are given a choice between this, and the Clinique Exfoliating lotion, definitely shell out $5 more, and get this one instead. I think I will be returning my barely-used Clinique toner, for I have found a product infinitely better. Given a choice (without regards to price), I would definitely choose this product.
