I love glitter, and I love musky perfumes, so when I received Bath and Body Works “Winter White Cool” Shimmer Roll On as a gift, I was eager to try it out. It looks like a lip gloss, but is actually a perfume, with a plethora of silvery, pearly glitter in a roll on tube for smelling great and looking glittery cool all at once. A great concept, but a real pain in the ass once you’re actually wearing it.
I like the idea of a roll on perfume, but I was concerned about the glitter getting everywhere, so I was limited to only placing the roll on perfume on my inner wrists. The scent is a somewhat baby powdery, musky floral rose scent that lasts a long time and is not incredibly overpowering. It’s a romantic, clean scent that manages to not turn into a salty smell on my skin over a few hours, which surprised me, because most perfumes outside of vanilla and amber tend to turn salty on me. That was a plus. The lasting scent surprised me as well, as I applied it in the morning and could smell it throughout the day. As a perfume, I give the product an A+.
It’s the glitter that initially was so cool that turns me off the Shimmer Roll On. I love the scent, but once the perfume dries, the tiny glittery pieces fleck off everywhere- on my clothing, on my face, all over my hands. If there was no glitter in the perfume, I would use it a lot more often, but since I end up looking like a glitter freak within a few minutes after applying the “Winter White Cool” Shimmer Roll On scent, I only use it sparingly, and have to monitor my motions to make sure I don’t touch my face if I get the glitter on my hands.
The glitter is tiny, and barely noticeable where it is applied, so it isn’t necessary as an accessory to an otherwise awesome scent. Since the glitter is more of an annoyance than looking cool when it’s applied, I would say to pass over the Shimmer Roll On and get a different perfume roll on instead. I don’t know why glitter in a perfume is a necessity, as it doesn’t stay where it’s applied, can hardly be seen unless it’s where it’s NOT supposed to be, and is actually a deterrent to the quality of the perfume’s scent.
The perfume itself is awesome and romantic, and my fiance loves it, but when he gets it in his beard, even HE is turned off by it as much as I am. What a shame, because this scent is truly a great one, and I rarely find a perfume I like. If this wasn’t a shimmery roll on, I would make this scent my staple for the day.
