Released on March 2, 2010, Battlefield Bad Company 2 lived up to the hype of its predesecor. This game competes neck and neck with its top rival, Modern Warfare 2 and for good reason. Bad Company 2 is one the best first person shooters I have ever played and has one of the largest online communities out there.
Graphics: Let me start off by stating that Battlefield Bad Company 2 looks amazing. The graphics and the envioronments are absolutely stunning. As if that wasn’t enough, Bad Company 2 features full destructablitly during gameplay. Literally anything can be blown apart from houses to trees to vehicles; its really a fun experience that immerses the gamer into the shooter atmosphere.
Gameplay: The controls for Battlefield are smooth and reliable. Very few times have I had problems with the movement or the vehicle controls. The gunplay is also very fun and satisfying. Vehicles still play a major and crucial role in controlling the battlefield and are still a large part of the gameplay element. Players who do not like vehicles in first person shooters should probably stray away from this game. In addition, this time around DICE has brought weapon and character customization to Bad Company 2 which increases the game’s addictiveness even more.
Sound: I don’t think that any game on the market can compete with the sound that Bad Company 2 offers. Whether it’s a tank that’s bursting into flames right in front of your face or a grenade launcher impacting into a tree right behind you, the sound is loud, clear, and powerful. It really brings another element to the game that so many others lack. Sound is definetly one of Battlefield’s fortes.
Campaign: Battlefield Bad Company 1 suffered from a lame and uninteresting campaign but most of that has been fixed with Bad Company 2. This time, the story is more thought out and complex which in turn makes the gamer want to actually play all the way through the entire thing. All the squad mates from the first game are still the main characters, but this time the members of Bad Company are fighting against the invading Russian army. The plot has some twists and turn and will keep your attention. This is definetley an improvement over the first campaign.
The verdict: This game gets a 8.5/10 from me. Great gameplay, sound, graphics, its all there. The multiplayer is great and is a must buy for first person shooter gamers.
