I am not a huge fan of Dolce & Gabbana, and the only scent they have ever made that I loved was Light Blue, with its unique cedar wood scent. Every other perfume by this designer brand though failed to impress me, and after getting a sniff of The One, I figured I would just stop trying to like them…that was, until recently when I was given a sample of their newest fragrance, Rose The One.
Initially I thought I was going to hate it, as I did not like the original The One fragrance, and I never liked scents that contained even the slightest hint of rose. Most perfumes containing rose always smelled like funeral homes to me; not something I want to be wearing.
After the first spritz of Rose The One though, I was hooked. This was no old folk rose scent, nor were there any associations with funerals. Dolce’s Rose The One smelled like bliss. A fresh and uplifting watery dew like fragrance, with a hint of rose, only done right. Sweet nectar is what the entire thing reminded me of, and it was rather beautiful.
You are hit first with a refreshing citrus scent which is likely the grapefruit scent added. Shortly afterward the rose scent begins to trickle through your sense, but it is done up so light and sweet making it a wearable rose fragrance, and not a deathly old woman one.
The scent is more of a spring or summer wear, but I like it enough to include it regularly, even in fall and winter months when warmer seductive scents are usually my favorites.
The thing I loved about Light Blue was the fact that the scent would stick with me for days, especially if I sprayed a little on my clothes. When it comes to Rose The One, that long lasting scent is also included in this adorable light blush colored bottle.
Rose The One is definitely one I would recommend time and time again. It’s one of the very first fragrances that included rose that I can actually tolerate…not just tolerate though, I simply love it. It’s unique, long lasting, and the bottle is even worthy of keeping once you go through all of he perfume. A win, win, win.
