My wife worked a bit late last night and I had a heck of a time getting the kids out of my parents’ house and back home. Since it was getting a bit late in the evening and neither of us really felt like trying to figure out a meal, we decided to make one of the On-Cor frozen dinners we had in our freezer. And, since I hadn’t tried it before, we ended up making the chicken parmagiana.
I purchased this dinner (and two others) about two weeks ago when I was out shopping for something else and saw the store had these on sale; 3 for $5. I have had On-Cor dinners in the past and enjoyed them for the most part so I figured it was worth buying them for nights like last night.
And, for the most part at least, I was not disappointed with my choice of entrees.
I made this dinner while my wife boiled some spaghetti and was very impressed with how easy it was to make. I just needed to cook it in the microwave for 10 minutes, stir it a little bit and cook it for another 7 minutes. It was done before the spaghetti was.
When I made these, I was a little concerned about taste. Like I said before, I have had other products from On-Cor and had no complaints. But, this was the first time I tried this one and knew there was a chance it wouldn’t live up to expectations. However, when I tried it, I did end up being impressed with it. The chicken patties were full of flavor (helped by the mozzarella cheese) and were much moister and tenderer than I would expect from something made in the microwave.
The dinner also proved to be very filling. There were only 6 chicken patties inside it so I had some doubts about that too. But, it proved to be enough for two adults and two kids; especially with the spaghetti pasta.
If I have any complaints about this product, they would be about the sauce. It tasted OK and had a decent blend of seasonings (I was surprised by this because I figured it would be bland). However, there wasn’t enough of it. There was barely enough to cover the chicken patties but it would have been nice to have some more so we could have covered the spaghetti too.
Overall though, I do feel this was a good purchase. Like other On-Cor products, it provided a simple, quality family meal at a reasonable price and I would definitely purchase it again.
