When we went to Santa Fe, New Mexico for the weekend we had reservations at a hotel that did not turn out so well (it is located at 1698 Galisteo St.) so we called around and found The Residence Inn Marriott. They were able to get us into a room with a king size bed and fold out full size couch. We thought this would be great since we brought the kids along for the trip. We were told the room would be $88 a night with a military discount. We were also told it was normally $239 a night. I thought that can’t be right, but okay we will take it. It sounds like a great deal!
When we arrived, this hotel is off the main road a bit, but you can still get places in less than five minutes. It looked really nice outside. My husband checked in and then we drove around to our room. We were able to park really close to the room and we walked up about five steps to get into the room. We saw someone with dogs so we know pets are allowed here. We never heard them though or had a problem with them being there.
When we went int our room, we were shocked at how big it was in there! It had a king size bed and the couch that could fold down. There was a coffee table in front of the couch and then a TV in front of that on a stand. It also had a nice big shower/bathtub. There was a sink with a lot of counter space. They had shampoo, soap, and conditioner for you like most hotels. Then there was also a kitchen. It had a stove, microwave, refrigerator with ice maker in the freezer, coffee pot, and a bar with 2 bar stools. They had tea, coffee, and even a bag of popcorn for you in the room at no extra charge. When you open the cabinets there is enough for place settings for four people for a meal. The refrigerator had a pitcher inside of it that was empty which was perfect for filling with water. The trash was under the sink. Our trash had not been emptied from the last guests. When my husband called up front about something else, he mentioned this to them. Someone came right away and dumped it for us.
We slept really well on the bed and the shower had plenty of pressure. We used the refrigerator and it worked great. We never needed the microwave or stove to try them out. Our TV remote had low batteries. They immediately brought us new ones. They did offer PPV movies, but we did not purchase any of them. They were around $14.99 a piece. The hotel offered grocery service. You could leave a list with them and they would purchase them for you that day. There was no charge for this service other than the price of your groceries. I know they also offered laundry service, but don’t know the specifics on this one. They did offer coin operated laundry as well. There was an iron and ironing board in our room. They had free Internet services in each room. We used this and it was fast with no problems at all.
We took the kids outside to use their pool. It was heated and felt great. It was big enough and went up to about 5 and 1/2 feet. They even had three different sizes of floaties out there that you could use to play in the pool. They also had towels out there available. There was one hot tub right by the pool. It felt great and was close enough you could see the kids. They offered another hot tub away from the pool. We did not use this one, but thought it would be wonderful for a bit more privacy or quiet from the children. They had a tennis/volleyball court. They also had a basketball goal. We played tennis for a little bit. They had racquets and balls that we were able to borrow and use. They were in great shape.
They offered a free continental breakfast every morning. We had this one day that we stayed there. It had sausage, hash browns, eggs, and more. You could get cereal or yogurt. They had a toaster with bread and bagels. They also had fresh fruit and a waffle iron with mix. You could make your own. We tried several things and were happy with all of it. They also had a juice machine with orange and cranberry juice in it. They had white milk available to drink or for cereal. It was very nice for a free meal. My husband went up one time and asked for some milk in the evening for our small daughter. They gave it to him no questions asked and were very polite. They had a small market inside that you could purchase things from such as a few drinks and small snacks.
Over all I would highly recommend this hotel. It was a great price for us with the military discount, but would still be nice for anyone who can afford the higher price to stay there. We felt it was so great that my husband called up front to make sure we were quoted the right price. It is amazing that they take care of service members this way. We are planning to check for this hotel in any city we visit before checking other rates. We were very happy with our stay and would do it again. This hotel gets 5 stars from me!
