I mentioned a couple weeks ago that, because of price, I was forced to make a change when it came to the razor I prefer while shaving. Well, the two blades that came with that particular razor were getting very dull and it was time for me to buy re-fills this weekend.
However, even though I rarely do this, I happened to buy the Sunday paper (I wanted to read the comics) and, before we went to the store, I checked out the coupons and found one for $2 off a Schick Quattro Titanium razor.
I had seen this brand at the store before and, under normal circumstances, probably wouldn’t have purchased it (I’m used to razors with five blades and this one only had four). But, with the coupon, it was considerably less than buying refills for my current razor (also from the Schick brand) so I decided to give it a try.
So far, I am very impressed with this.
To be perfectly honest, I really don’t understand exactly what makes this particular razor any different from the others that are out there. It advertises itself as being a Titanium razor but I don’t know if that necessarily makes it any better or why. But, I have been using this for a few days not and have no complaints.
The first time I used this, it had been a couple days since I had shaved and, as a result, my beard was starting to get pretty thick. Because of this and because (as I mentioned before) this razor had one less blade than my regular brand; I was expecting it to have problems cutting the hair and had prepared myself just in case it started pulling and grabbing.
To my surprise, this razor cut right through my beard and left me with a nice, close shave that was much closer than the 5-blade razor I had been using prior to buying this one. And, despite the thickness of my beard (and me not using shaving cream; something I feel slows me down), I did not have an issue with it pinching or grabbing.
The blade also proved to be much easier to clean than I expected. Unlike many other razors, there is an opening on the back of the blades that allows me to wash the hair out of it with much less effort. This is a big plus for me because it means I can use one blade longer.
I don’t know if I would buy this product or the blades at full price. But, if I could find it on sale again, it is a quality alternative to my regular brands.
