Soap & Glory’s colorful bottles and witty taglines are enough to make any girl want to stop and take a look at the products. When it comes to flashing around tiaras, the color pink, and everything else that attracts girls, Soap & Glory has their merchandising down pat. In the marketing for a new facial moisturizer, I decided to try Soap & Glory Touch & Glow Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion after I was attracted to the display on a recent trip to the store.
When it comes to actual function of the product, I have to say the only thing Soap & Glory has going for them is that beautiful in-store merchandising I was referring to. This Soap & Glory product was highly disappointing. Why? There were a few things wrong with it.
1) The Touch & Glow Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion advertises that there are micro-bronzer beads built into the moisturizer. At first, I thought this would be interesting because it would have the same effect as if I had also used bronzer along with my moisturizer. Two steps completed in one! Wrong! The little brown beads were squished in all the wrong places on my face – at one point, I had one stuck in my eyebrow. When the beads let the bronzer loose, it was hard to rub the bronzer in and I felt like my face was unevenly bronzed. Make sure you squish all the beads too – you don’t want to end up with a random brown spot on your face in the middle of the day if a bead is accidentally left over.
2) After applying the Soap & Glory Touch & Glow Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion, my face felt just as dry as it did before I applied the moisturizer. All day I found myself wondering if I had actually applied moisturizer because it surely didn’t feel like it!
3) Does this product contain sunscreen? The bottle gives no indication! A witty little fact on the back says, “Wear sunscreen on your face everyday, or in 20 years, you could be wearing it as a belt.” Very witty, Soap & Glory, but does this product contain sunscreen or are you basically telling me to go find a different moisturizer that actually works? Sunscreen is, indeed, a very important part of a great moisturizer, and this should be better advertised on the bottle!
Overall, I was quite disappointed with this product. You can easily find a facial moisturizer that does more than the Touch & Glow Daily Radiance Moisture Lotion for a cheaper price, but perhaps not as cool a bottle. Instead, I would suggest Aveeno products as they are at a similar price point but have much better results.
