A couple of weeks ago, my wife came across a sale on Tyson Anytizers products and, since we needed some stuff for our freezer anyway, decided to pick up a few.
One of the items she purchased was a bag of Tyson Anytizers Fajita Chicken Quesa Dippers. Basically, they were quesadillas that were smaller in size than most you can get at a restaurant and you dip them in a salsa. In this case, it was Cilantro Lime Salsa.
When I saw these, I had to admit I was interested. Even though it doesn’t really agree with me, I love Mexican food; especially quesadillas. However, I also had some doubts about it because it’s not like pre-made, frozen items like this ever live up to expectations (or, at least it is very rare when they do).
My first impression of this product was it would be something that was perfect for a late dinner with the wife (when we were watching movies on a Friday or Saturday night) so I left the bag in the freezer with that intention. However, my wife apparently didn’t see it that way and decided to make them for lunch today instead. She only made enough for herself. But, I did get an opportunity to try them and, unfortunately, they weren’t as good as I hoped they would be.
As far as a frozen food is concerned, I will admit they weren’t horrible. A lot of items like this would end up being very dry and stale tasting. But, these did have some moistness and did taste somewhat fresh.
I also will say if I would have had more than one (or more than a few bites of one); I think they would be a filling meal. So, my first thought about these making a good late-night dinner was a good one; at least in that regard.
My biggest problem with these is they really didn’t have a whole heck of a lot inside them. When I was biting into the one my wife let me try, I could taste the fajita part but didn’t taste much in terms of chicken or anything else. I’m used to quesadillas that are loaded with cheese and meat and these did not fit that description.
The salsa they came with was also a bit of a disappointment. It didn’t taste terrible but it wasn’t great either. And, it was very watery.
My wife did find this on sale so I don’t feel like we spent too much on them. But, now that I have tried this product, I would not pay full price for it.
