My wife did some grocery shopping Friday night before coming home from work. While at the store picking up a few things we needed, she discovered something in the meat section that caught her eye; a Tyson Slow Cooker Creations Beef Roast with Vegetables dinner kit. Since it had been a while since we had beef roast (or used our slow cooker), she decided to pick up one.
After trying it Saturday, I definitely will buy this product again.
I’m going to start out by saying the Tyson Slow Cooker Creations kit cost around $13. I didn’t take the time to do an accurate comparison. But, I’m guessing that price is higher than purchasing the beef roast and vegetables separately.
However, as I have said in the past, I’m always willing to pay more when it comes to convenience and this product was definitely convenient. It came with everything, including the vegetables and all we had to do was put it in the slow cooker with some water and let it cook while we did whatever we wanted to do. It was definitely a lot easier than washing the potatoes, cutting the onion, etc. It was as convenient as some of those frozen slow cooker dinners you can buy (which is what my wife was originally looking for). Only it is refrigerated rather than frozen.
I also have to say, as far as quality is concerned, the dinner exceeded my expectations.
First, the meat was fantastic. It was so tender; it fell apart as we took it out of the slow cooker. It didn’t have much fat in it (like many other roasts) and I loved the flavor of it. I ended up having three servings and I rarely have seconds when it comes to roast beef (mostly because it is usually too dry).
Another thing that impressed me about this beef roast kit was the quantity. When my wife first purchased this, I figured it was enough for one dinner for two people without much leftover. We had it Saturday night and we had leftovers Sunday night. Even then, there was still enough for me to have roast beef for lunch on Monday.
If you are in the mood for a roast beef dinner, I would recommend this product. As I said before, it is likely a bit more expensive than making the dinner from scratch. But, the convenience, quantity and overall quality make it worth every extra penny.
