I went to Walgreens the other day and was surprised to find a makeup remover for only $2. Despite Wet and Wild’s bad reputation, I decided to pick it up. I went home to try it out, and I really regret buying it.
First off, I noticed that the bottle has a weird top. The container is purple, but the liquid itself is clear. There is a screw top cap, and underneath there is a cap on top of the neck of the bottle. There is a small hole to let out the liquid. It’s not big enough to dip a Q-tip in the bottle, but you can always stick a Q-tip right next to the hole and dump the liquid out onto the Q-tip. You can also pour it easily onto a cotton ball or a cotton round. So I guess it’s good that it prevents you from accidentally dumping a lot of product everywhere.
It removes eyeshadow pretty well. I used it on a Q-tip, and the eyeshadow comes right off. The big, big problem with this makeup remover I that it STINGS. It’s so irritating on the eyelids. I did notice some swelling underneath my eyes after I used it. Also, I didn’t think it would work on mascara, and I was reluctant to check it because I thought that it would be really irritating. It was. I got it in my eyes, and it burned really badly.
Overall, really would not recommend this product. It’s really irritating even to people without sensitive skin or eyes. Since I discovered how terrible this product is, I decided to see if it did the same thing to other people. I found out that in 2009, Wet and Wild’s Eye Makeup Remover was actually recalled due to high amounts of bacteria found in the solution. Apparently, they changed the product, because the product code and packaging is different, but it gives me even less confidence in the company that makes this product.
Spend a few more dollars and buy a better makeup remover. It’ll really be worth it.
