WWE is currently in the process of pushing young and deserving talent, something that World Wrestling Entertainment has not done in previous years. They have realized that their established and veteran stars are getting older, and these veteran stars that have entertained viewing audiences for the past decade are getting ready to retire. Some of these stars have already retired (Shawn Michaels), while other stars such as Triple H, Kane, Undertaker, Edge, Chris Jericho, Christian, and others, are either in their early 40’s or late 30’s and are only a few years away from their retirement. For this reason, WWE has started pushing their younger and mostly unknown stars, to try to make them into the next big thing. These rising superstars will be the future of the WWE for years to come and I decided to write articles about who these rising superstars are and what to expect from them in the future:
Rising Superstar: The Miz
Biography About This Rising Superstar: Mike “The Miz” Mizanin was born on October 8, 1980, in Parma, Ohio and got his start on MTV’s The Real World in 2001 where he developed the wrestling alter ego, The Miz. After The Real World finished, The Miz began training and went on the independent circuit for a few years, wrestling in different organizations before he got the opportunity to appear on the fourth season of Tough Enough in 2004. The winner of the competition would be awarded with a WWE million dollar contract. Miz finished runner-up to Daniel Puder, but was awarded a contract as well. Miz made the most of this opportunity and made his SmackDown debut in 2005 as a backstage interviewer and host. A year later, Miz made his wrestling debut, and the rest is history. Miz has been with the WWE for over five years now, and currently competes on the Raw brand.
Accomplishments in the WWE: Over the last five years, The Miz has accomplished much in World Wrestling Entertainment. From winning the Tag Team Championships three times (twice with John Morrison, once with The Big Show), to winning singles gold twice (two-time United States Champion), to even winning two Slammy Awards while with teaming with Morrison. But The Miz’s greatest accomplishment so far in the WWE came at the July Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View, when he won the Raw Money in the Bank briefcase, outlasting five other men to climb the ladder and take down the contract. The Miz is also one of the most improved wrestlers year after year, as voted by his peers.
Current Position in the WWE: The Miz is currently in the upper mid-card level, and has main evented a few times on Monday Night Raw in the past month against such established main eventers as John Cena and Randy Orton. The Miz was also recently captain of Team Raw at the Bragging Rights Pay-Per-View, and held the team together. This shows that WWE is very high on Miz and he will either stay in the upper mid-card level or move up to the main event level in the next few months. Also, Miz is the holder of the Raw Money in the Bank briefcase, which Miz won at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, and guarantees himself a world title opportunity at any time he chooses.
Why The Miz is a Rising Superstar: There are many reasons why The Miz is a rising superstar but one of the main reasons is because of his mic skills. His mic skills are one of the things that separates him from other rising superstars, and pretty much the whole roster. The Miz is one of the best talkers in all of wrestling and has charisma to go along with it. But mic skills and charisma, a wrestler cannot make. While The Miz is not one of the most talented wrestlers on the roster, he is definitely not the worst, and improves his ring work every year. If you compare The Miz’s ring work from when he first started in 2005 to what it is now, you will see that The Miz has improved leaps and bounds, through hard work and determination. He has developed his own unique offense, and his finisher “Skull Crushing Finale” is one of the best ones in the WWE. These reasons are why The Miz is a future main eventer and will be a star for many years to come.
What to Expect in the Future from The Miz: You can expect very big things in the future from The Miz. The Miz will be a main eventer for years to come, and will start main eventing WWE Pay-Per-Views by 2011. While The Miz is still in the mid-card level for the time being, he is really one match away from being a main eventer and winning the WWE Championship. Also, it is important to not forget that The Miz currently holds the Money in the Bank briefcase. That briefcase has been cashed in seven times in the history of WWE, and all seven times have resulted in new world champions. When The Miz finally does cash in that briefcase, he will pick an opportune time and win his first ever world title, from whoever the WWE Champion is at the time.
