Robin’s Quest: A Legend Born offers gamers the chance to relive and to help rewrite the timeless story of Robin Hood. By placing a creative spin on the old legend and playing as a brave new hero, players will take journey on a quest to become a champion of the people, this time as a young woman named Robin who is in search of her imprisoned husband.
The game begins as Friar Tuck spins a tale of corruption and greed set in Nottingham. As it would be, Prince John has been abusing his powers at the expense of the people, and the Sheriff is obliged to assist. Gamers are plunged in the world of Robin Hood as she and her husband have been imprisoned deep within in the castle in separate quarters. Being a hidden object game at its core, players must then visit various locations in search of laundry listed items to bring peace to peace and prosperity to all.
Players begin imprisoned deep within the castle in Nottingham; fortunately the guard has fallen asleep. Hidden under the prison cell’s bed are variety of scattered object, and list of them that must be found – the usual fotask at hand in the realm of hidden object games. Although it is primarily hidden object game, the title has much more to offer in terms of play variety. Of the objects that can be found, there are particular special objects that end up being useful in upcoming areas or tasks. These objects act as “tools” of some sort – such as objects that are used to throw at something, and objects that act as keys to unlock others.
Outside of the usual laundry list of hidden objects to find in an area, players will learn that they must keep their eyes open for extra special items that may be found in the area and need to be collected for game progression. Friar Tuck for example wishes to leave his restrictive position in Nottingham; however, his pardon was destroyed and scattered across the land. By finding and picking up the pieces of the pardon, Friar Tuck gratefully becomes a free man. Additionally, in order for players to willingly enter various areas, wanted posters of Robin Hood must be located. Collecting them limits the possibility of Robin Hood’s identity from being compromised – this is how players, for example, will make it past the sleeping guard in the game’s opener. Puzzle challenges also play an integral part of the game and are usually found when clearing a room of all hidden objects. To escape the prison cell, the correct key on the guard’s ring must be used, otherwise there are consequences. Even though most seasoned gamers may not find many of them overly challenging, they do add the special quality to the game that makes it worthy of purchase through a casual games club site. Players can expect to find the these special objects and puzzles mixed between the hidden object portions of the game.
Graphics and sound are of the typical cute and artsy quality found with other games in the genre, and give the game an overall professionally developed appeal. Overall, while it doesn’t break any new ground, the game is entertaining and allows for hours of enjoyable play.
