Ronni Chasen was worried that she was being followed since March, 2010, reports the NY Post. She had confided in a friend that she was worried about someone tailing her and that it had started a bit after the Oscars of 2010.
Some of her confidants have stated that that they feel her murder was a professional hit, notes the NY Post. If Ronni had worries about being followed why didn’t she report it to the police when it started? Also, why would she drive herself to events if she thought she was in danger?
Also, did she give details about the person following her or the car he or she was driving to friends? It seems the police must have more information than they are revealing to the public. If her friends are telling the media about a possible person following Ronni surely they must have first notified the police once she was killed.
Did Ronni Chasen Tell the Police about her Fears?
Perhaps Ronni was in denial about the seriousness of the situation if she did notice someone following her. It would be difficult indeed to take that sort of information to the police without seeming a bit paranoid.
No Known Motive Yet for Ronni Chasen’s Murder
Ronni Chasen’s funeral is tomorrow at the Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary. Her death remains a mystery. The police have not yet released any information about possible suspects or a motive for her murder.
Ms. Chasen was an esteemed publicist in Hollywood. She worked as the senior vice president of publicity for MGM at the time of her death. She had also had her own public relations business, Chasen & Co., for 20 years.
One of her clients, Hans Zimmer, described Ronni Chasen to the Beverly Hills Courier. “Ronni was the best…She was truly singular. She really cared, she had a heart of gold, she was a fighter and a total pro.”
Ms. Chasen left a phone message at her company about six minutes before she was murdered. It was a “To Do” list for staff members. Could that phone call have incited the shooting incident? Was she driving erratically during it? Or is some darker scenario at work in her murder?
Hollywood has long been under a high alert for terrorism. The attacks on America in 2001 made it clear that the movie industry could be targeted. Al Qaeda is disdainful of the American entertainment and music industries. Ronni’s career could have drawn their attention.
That scenario is hard to imagine. However recently al Qaeda is alleged to have tried to send bombs via planes to synagogues in Chicago. That seems to indicate that any kind of terror attack is possible.
Also, Ms. Chasen is Jewish and she has often been referred to in the media an integral part of the movie business. Could al Qaeda be using a new strategy to target individuals rather than try to carry out mass attacks?
Their new online magazine, called “Inspire” and targeted at Americans and the British does call for gun violence against Americans. And one of the people allegedly involved in recruiting for al Qaeda, Anwar al Awlaki, did publish in the October issue of Inspire and he did previously live in California. Did he take a dislike to the movie industry while there?
Al Qaeda Urges Killing of Americans
On a video released Nov. 8, 2010, Anwar al Awlaki announced “Don’t consult anyone in killing Americans. Fighting the devil doesn’t require consultation or prayers seeking divine guidance. They are the party of the devils,” notes al Jazeera. Awlaki clearly seems to want the followers of al Qaeda to assassinate Americans. Is that plan in action already?
Anwar al Awlaki was also allegedly in contact with the “undie bomber” who tried to blow up a plane over Detroit. He was also allegedly in communication with the alleged shooter in Fort Hood.
Hollywood Casting Agents Get Death Threats
Just one day before Anwar al Awlaki released his threatening video, six Hollywood casting agents at major studios received death threats via the telephone, reports Backstage. The threats were called in to casting agents at Warner Brothers and Fox Studios. The union told the casting agents to notify the police. Could there be a link between the threats of al Awlaki and the threats the casting agents received?
This news certainly adds to the horror of Ms. Chasen’s murder. The death threats received by casting agents prior to the murder of Ms. Chasen make it seem that some plot may be afoot in Hollywood to murder people associated with the film industry. Is it common for Hollywood workers to get death threats or is this something new?
There is also the possibility that this murder was part of an initiation for a gang member. Gangs such as the Bloods and Crips are very active in the Los Angeles area and urban lore has it they require a murder as a admit pass to enter the gang. Even tourists in LA can spot Bloods and Crips by the blue or red hats or bandannas they often wear.
I remember on one tour I took of LA the tour driver nonchalantly pointed out a car full of gang members next to us (blue hats). Then when we went through Venice Beach he told us not to be out near or on the beach after dark as the gangs congregate there.
Do Cars Need Video Cameras in Headlights?
Perhaps all new cars need to start coming equipped with a video camera imbedded in the vehicle the way some State Trooper cars have a camera in the headlights to take film of any incident that occurs. With all of the modern technology it is sad that someone could be gunned down in a place like Beverly Hills and there is no video of exactly what happened.
