Halloween comes early this year for children in Royal Oak. The Royal Oak downtown merchants will host their annual trick-or-treat event, “Spooktacular,” on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. Parents will appreciate the earlier downtown trick-or-treating date this year. Schedule conflicts with traditional Halloween trick-or-treating on Oct 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. moved the Spooktacular event back a week. With downtown trick-or-treating and neighborhood trick-or-treating on the same day, parents faced the challenge of getting children back home on time for neighborhood events. Having two events on the same day also put children at risk with vehicles out on the streets during the door-to-door trick-or-treating.
Halloween Spooktacular events downtown Royal Oak include candy and treat give-aways, free food samples, face painting and pumpkin bowling. Parents are advised to arrive early for the Spooktacular to keep the downtown area free of vehicles during the afternoon event. For more information, visit here.
