We’re well into leaf season in Royal Oak; if you don’t know the drill, it’s time you became acquainted with the rules. Leaf collection season started Nov. 1 and goes for six weeks, with each area of the city covered at least twice. There is a leaf collection schedule to help you plan, though it is subject to change.
The city does not want residents to put yard waste on the street, but instead to rake leaves into the edge of the roadway and to keep piles to around 3 feet high by 4 feet wide. Parking your car by the leaves will really mess up collection, as the trucks need a house length to reach the curb. If you waited until the last minute, don’t expect the trucks to wait for you. They have to keep to the schedule.
