In an interesting twist, Royal Oak has become the proposed site of a dueling piano bar. The owners of Woody’s Diner are seeking a liquor license and permission to build a two-story dual purpose business, featuring a piano bar on one level and a Mexican restaurant on another.
The proposal has already met with protests from St. Paul Lutheran Church and School, which sits a block away. The church doesn’t want them to have a liquor license that close to their school.
The upstairs piano bar is reportedly going to be called 526 Main, and the Mexican restaurant will be called Tequila Blue. The owners will take up their petition for a liquor license and building permission again in the coming weeks.
