Royal Oak is in the black after figuring all of the totals for its annual Arts, Beats and Eats festival. The event, which took place over the Labor Day weekend, drew in more than 400,000 visitors. The city charged $15 per car for parking in and around the festival and $10 per car for parking in remote lots. In total, Royal Oak raked in approximately $531,700.
Earning are just a part of the story, though. The city’s expenses for the festival, which included fees for shuttle buses, employee pay and sponsorship fees, cost it about $494,000. In total, the city’s profit totaled up to $62,885.72. The amount of exposure that the well-regarded festival generated for Royal Oak, however, was priceless.
