The Ryder Cup results 2010 won’t be settled today. However, judging by the 2010 Ryder Cup results thus far today, that is a good thing for the Americans. They still have some time left to make a comeback, but time is running short in more ways than one. When play was suspended yesterday, the USA was up by 6-4, yet was trailing all of the suspended matches. They needed to reverse that before the single matches start, but so far, the Ryder Cup results have gotten even worse for the Americans.
Now that singles play is finally at hand, the USA needs a huge performance to win. They have gone from being up 6-4, to trailing by 9 ½-6 ½ after the suspended matches were finished. The Europeans cleaned up in the last fourball and foursome showdowns, and now carry all of the momentum again.
The most noteworthy of the Ryder Cup results 2010 had Lee Westwood and Luke Donald finish their destruction of Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker, 6 & 5. The other matches were closer, but they all pretty much ended the same. The Americans could not win any of them, and their only point was from a draw that Matt Kuchar and Stewart Cink salvaged.
The only way to make the Ryder Cup turn back around is with a dominant effort in singles. Out of the 12 matches, the Americans must get 7.5 points in order to take the victory. However, all the Europeans have to do is get five points, as they don’t even need to outright win half of the battles.
Momentum has shifted around this far, as Europe jumped out early on Friday, before the USA rallied back after the rain delay. The two then stayed even until now, with the clear advantage now going to the home team.
Of course, there is more time than usual for the Ryder Cup to turn, since there’s no way to finish the competition by today. Tomorrow will be a historic day, as the tournament will end on a Monday for the first time. However, it could end up being the same old story, in that Europe may defend their home turf for the fourth straight time.
The Americans need a classic comeback to maintain the title, and they will at least have another day to sleep on it. But the margin of error is extremely thin, as almost no one can afford to lose a match – and even halving them may not do.
The Ryder Cup results aren’t settled yet, although they look a little easier to predict now. But at long last, the final session will be at hand tomorrow morning and afternoon.
