Sally Hansen has many varieties and colors of nail polish. The kind I bought is called Hard As Nails. The color is called Ice. It cost me $2.00, which is a good price. I tend to favor pink shades instead red. I am fair skinned and I feel like red nail polish sometimes looks too bright. For me, pastel pink shades look best, and complement my hair and eyes well.
I was drawn to this particular color, Ice, because it is light pink and has some shine to it. I don’t like matte or frost colors without any shine to them. I was a little disappointed after applying this nail color initially because the color looks a lot pinker in the bottle than it does on my nails. In some light, my nails have a silver look to them. However, if I apply two coats this does help to make the color richer.
I am impressed by this nail polish. I painted my fingernails on a Sunday and on Friday only a little of the nail polish had chipped off. I wash a lot of dishes without wearing gloves so my fingernails are exposed to a lot of harsh elements that can cause my nail color to come off, but this has held up well. I do not have to repaint my fingernails as often.
I also use Sally Hansen Hard As Nails on my toenails. I prefer to wear a neutral shade of nail color on my toenails, so this nail polish is perfect. It stays even longer on my toenails than it does on my fingernails. That’s probably because I wear socks in the winter so my toenails are not exposed to anything like my fingernails are.
I like that this nail polish dries quickly so I am able to apply a second coat without it clumping up, which can be frustrating. A tip I have learned is to store nail polish in the freezer so that it will apply better and prevent it from getting too dried out. I don’t even need to keep this in the freezer though, because it applies smoothly and evenly every time I use it.
When I wear this nail polish I feel like my fingernails are stronger and they don’t break as often. I am not in the habit of applying a base coat or top coat, so this nail polish is usually the only thing that I use. The only negative thing I can say about this brand of nail polish is that the brush doesn’t seem to be securely attached to the cap. It seems like it might come apart eventually.
