The acclaimed author Salman Rushdie is paying a visit to DUMBO on Nov. 16 and taking along his newest work, “Luka and the Lake of Fire” for a book signing at 1 p.m.
The Booker Prize-winning author wrote his most recent work for his youngest son, Milan. The book follows the adventures of a young boy who must rescue his father from an inexplicably deep sleep. Filled with fantasy and supernatural events, the boy journeys to the Fire of Life with his companions Bear (the dog) and Dog (the bear).
The book is described as “a classic quest myth exploring the relationships between fathers and sons, life and death, the real and the imagined, freedom and authority.”
The author served with a fatwa by Iranian cleric Khomeini has been out and about in Brooklyn several times recently. At the 2010 Brooklyn Book Festival, the author discussed Indian Literature with author Tishani Dashi at St. Francis College. He is reportedly working on a film adaptation to his novel Midnight’s Children.
