The San Diego Chargers embark on their second road game in as many weeks against the St Louis Rams October 17th. Phillip Rivers has struggled in his first three road games of the 2010 NFL season and their devastating loss to the Oakland Raiders may put the final nail in their coffin. Rivers fumble on a strange play in the last minute of the Oakland Raiders game was a tough pill to swallow for Rivers and his San Diego Chargers teammates.
The St Louis Rams resurgence has provided a solid home field advantage in the St Louis Rams dome and they should provide a tough game for the San Diego Chargers. Sam Bradford had a miserable game against the Detroit Lions in Detroit’s Ford Field and it will be interesting to see how Bradford deals with the adversity of a rough loss. Bradford also lost Mark Clayton his number one wide receiver on the St Louis Rams in this game. Clayton left with an air cast on his knee.

Sam Bradford and the St Louis Rams will be without his number one receiver Mark Clayton for this game and this could play a huge factor in this game against the the San Diego Chargers. Steven Jackson appears to be in better shape after dealing with a torn groin over the last few weeks. Look for the St Louis Rams to focus on the running game in this match up to keep the NFL’s number one offense off the field.
The San Diego Chargers defense has been solid all season long but they have taken a few mental vacations in the San Diego Chargers losses. The real issue for the San Diego Chargers is their special teams blocking. They have had three punts blocked and their punter Mike Scifres was injured during the Oakland Raiders game. The St Louis Rams offense has a slight edge over the San Diego Chargers defense.

The San Diego Chargers offense is the most potent offense in the NFL at this time and they are missing their number one wide receiver Vincent Jackson. Phillip Rivers has the skill to spray the ball around the field but with a tight end like Antonio Gates it just isn’t fair to the other NFL defenses. Gates is huge target over the middle and he has the ability to run the out routes in the open field. The rookie running back Ryan Mathews has also provided other options for the San Diego Chargers.
The St Louis Rams defense has been a pleasant surprise but they are average at best. There are some standouts on this defense and the motor on this St Louis Rams defense is unquestionably Jame Laurinaitis.
Look for the St Louis Rams to employ a blitzing aggressive defense against this high powered offense but that could play into Phillip Rivers hands. San Diego Chargers offense has a huge edge over the St Louis Rams defense.

The Las Vegas Hilton Superbook posted the St Louis Rams as a six point underdog to the visiting San Diego Chargers. The San Diego Chargers have been a different team outside the friendly confines of Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.
The St Louis Rams dome can be loud and Phillip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers have had difficulty dealing with noisy stadiums in their first two road games. This game will come down to special teams and the San Diego Chargers had better hope they do not have to punt much in this game.
