Sarah Palin’s long awaited book “America By Heart” is available today nationwide. Amidst the speculation, media bashing and leaked passages, her voice comes through the pages to highlight the country she loves, family values and American Exceptionalism. After her last book “Going Rogue: An American Life” sold more than 2 million copies, this follow up promises to exceed those sales with stark looks at our politics, our current president and the promise of a better horizon.
Whether she runs for president in 2012 or not, the contents of her book will challenge the reader to think about where we are, and where we could be.
Her book tour kicks off today with two stops in Iowa, which also happens to be the location of the opening presidential caucuses. Her tour also includes stops in South Carolina, which also holds an early primary.
In the 272 page book, Sarah Palin strikes out at president Obama and his wife, Michelle for lack of faith in the American people. She highlights comments made by Michelle Obama in the 2008 campaign when she said that it was the “first time in my adult life that I am really proud of America”.
In the book, Palin responds to these comments by saying they “shouldn’t surprise us since both of them spent almost two decades in the pews of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s church listening to his rants against America and white people,”.
She also cites numerous passages and historical viewpoints, doing her homework to provide a view into the possibilities for our America. Perhaps, in some ways, the hard hitting detail and painstaking research is an effort to combat the portrayals on Saturday night Live and in the media of her as uninformed and comical. She is getting very serious about America.
