Lots of new brides start a scrapbook to commemorate the upcoming event. She might include photos of childhood girlfriends, pictures of her and the groom-to-be over the course of their relationship, photos of family members at the bridal shower. You know what else will look great in that scrapbook? Hearts! Beautiful hearts, given to her by friends and family at the bridal shower, will be cherished by the bride for many years! No ordinary hearts will do, though. These hearts will contain loving advice from friends!
When you send out the invitations for the bridal shower include a small note that instructs the recipient of the invitation what to do. One way to go about the heart advice gifts is to ask each person to cut a heart out of some type of paper: scrapbook paper, printer paper or another type. An alternative way is to include the heart along with the invitation.
If you send the hearts with the invitations you don’t have to make them all the same. It’s much more interesting if each heart is different than the others. They can be all the same size or different sizes. Ask that the guests decorate the hearts and give them some suggestions. Hearts can be embellished by attaching sequin, fake jewels, glitter, buttons, lace, ribbon and similar things.
In addition to decorating the hearts ask that each person write a piece of advice on the heart. The advice should have a marriage theme. Here are some examples: “Never go to sleep angry with each other”, “Remember to say “I love you” at least once a day” or “Treat each day as a new beginning”. Each guest can dish out her own advice for helping the new bride-to-be have happiness in her new life. The guests can each write their names on the backs of the hearts or each piece advice can be given anonymously.
Ask the guests to mail the hearts back or suggest they each bring the heart when they come to the shower. The hearts can be gathered together and given to the bride all at once, sometime during the bridal shower. Or, each guest can attach her heart on the gift she has brought. The bride-to-be will cherish these hearts that make a lovely addition to her bridal scrapbook!
