It’s our field trip day.
We’re going to the zoo.
Serena can hardly wait
To greet the kangaroos!
The hippos were dunking
For an underwater bubble.
As the zebras were grooming
Their newborn’s muzzle.
The big elephant mother
Stretched out a long trunk,
Sprayed an afternoon shower
To wash her sullied tusk.
The pink flamingos danced.
While the lorakeets fluttered
Swooping down on our hands
My nectar juice got splattered.
Standing so tall above the rest,
The giraffes dotted the landscape.
Screeching wildly in their cage,
It was monkey business with great apes.
Serena’s eyes in wonder and delight
Opened wide at the big cat’s site.
The cheetahs slyly purred and sighed
While lions and tigers grabbed a bite.
The endangered eagrets and condors
Perched warily atop their aerie.
What unique flaura and fauna
Inhabit this exotic menagerie!
