Many moms find during the winter, that they have a lot of time to spend in the house. Although most homes do spring cleaning, there really is nothing wrong with doing a bit of winter cleaning. Since you are in the house anyway do to the cold weather why not put your time to good use. Below are several things that you can do to take advantage of being stuck in doors. The other benefit is that it will help you to fight those winter blues.
Starting with one room at a time you will be able to really give your home a deep scrubbing and cleaning. I have found that the bedroom is one room that really suffers during the winter months. A lot of dust tends to build up and in the spring time you have a lot to clean up. If you give your home a deep cleaning during the winter months, you will find that spring cleaning is a lot easier as well.
Re-arrange the furniture
You can really get bored with how your home looks during the winter months. To give your home a better look or just a different one why not try a bit of redecorating. Nice warm colors really help your home to feel cozy and comfortable during the winter months. Having a comfortable and cozy home during the winter time, can really change your mood. When you do go out, you will feel a lot better coming home, to a different looking house.
Load up on soups
This will also be a good time to stock up your freezer with a nice variety of soup. You can warm up the house, by cooking large pots of chicken soup, pea soup, and even sweet potato soup. Be sure you have plenty of containers on hand, to freeze the entire extra. Make sure that you take the time to label the containers with the type of soup you have put in them, and when you made it. This way when someone in the home gets sick, you will have plenty of soup to give them.
Work on your budget
I have found that during the winter months, many families don’t go out as much. They eat out much less and they do not take as many trips. This is a really good time to focus on getting your budget together, and all organized. You can make up a chart and compare what you spent the previous year to what you would like to spend this year.
