Watching the Giants can break your heart or make your day. It’s really like you are on a roller coaster. (They have their up and downs)…In this article I will talk about the Giants’ chances on making the playoffs.
Currently, the Giants are leading the NL wild card by a half of a game with 34 games to go. The surprising part about it is, they’re hitting almost doing better then their pitching lately! With the two time consecutive Cy Young award winner, Tim Lincecum, who has an 8.34 ERA in August, is not doing well at all. Also they have the highest ERA in the NL in the month of August! Some of the time though, it is that they don’t get enough run support. But you can only use that excuse so many times! In short, their rotation needs to bring on the heat!
The hitting situation is mediocre, but in the past few games it has been great! Pablo Sandoval finally turned the power on, and Freddy Sanchez has been helping out the offense a lot as well. Buster Posey, the new rookie star on the giants, has been doing great with his over 3.30+ average and 280+ at bats. Last but not least, Pat Burrell brought his big bat to Philadelphia and swung up a storm there. So lately it has been good, but can they keep it up is the question.
Alright, here are the Giants, playoff chances in my book. Winning the division; wave goodbye to that! But as they always say, closing one door opens a new one. In this case the wild card is the new door. I say if they keep playing how they are it will come down to the last week. But if they can bring it up a notch, then they should win it. The Phillies, who are very stable ball-club, may take it up a notch themselves. In that case they really need to turn the dial to full power! Also, if I were them I would watch out for sneaky St. Louis. You never know when a team could get a streak. The bottom line is; I would not be making bets on the Giants making it. But that does not mean they have no chance. It seems like the wildcard is going to be neck to neck to me.
