If you like drums and dancing, then the SF World Percussion Arts Festival is where you should spend your weekend. It’s a celebration of different cultures expressing themselves through percussion instruments and dance.
Produced by Maikaze Daiko, you’ll experience workshops and shows that will introduce you to the finer points of percussive expression in countries including Japan, Africa, Brazil, India and more. Participate and interact or just watch and appreciate. It’s up to you!
On the weekend of Oct. 8 – 10, you can experience the art of Jim Santi Owen, Duniya Dance & Drum Company, Joe Vengoni, Maikaze Daiko, and special guests Quimbanda Grupo Carnavalesco. Each will perform their own style of dance with the percussion instrument of their choice.
Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door. Buy them at BrownPaperTickets.com or call the hotline any time of day, 1-800-838-3006.
