The school hallway darkens and begins to elongate as she watches. The doors all slam one by one in a long domino effect up the left side of the hall. She turns to watch the doors as they continue to slam one by one down the hall. Then the other side starts to slam one by one all the way back to wear she is standing. As she turns to watch the doors slam on her right she is startled by the site of a little girl in a blue dress standing and pointing at her “You should have never came back” the little girl whispers. Now appearing behind her the little girl says “he’s never gonna let you leave.” The school bell rings. Startled she awakens in class. The teacher says to her “Sarah Donovan!” “Yes, Mr. Todd” she replies. “Get your sleep at home and not on my time.” “Yes, sir!”
Sarah walked out of class and into the hallway. As she walked down the hallway she looked eerily at the doors which in her dream seemed to act as if they had a mind of their own. “Sarah!” yelled a boy. “Oh — hi Mike” she replied. Mike smiled at her and said “When you go to sleep in Mr. T’s class you gotta put your shades on. You’ve been back like two months. Get with the program.” “Yeah” said Sarah. “I’ve just been kinda wore out lately with the move, the divorce and the mama drama,” she exclaimed! “Yeah, the D word sucks big time, but you can get some killer perks outta of it!” Mike continued, “You’ve gotta learn the art of the DRGT!” “The art of what” she questioned? “C’mon Sarah! You know the Divorced Related Guilt Trip!” He continued “My folks are like trailer trash and I have a killer sports car, every video game like ever and I get the most wicked summer trips!” The two walked out of school and got into Mike’s car. “Hey, I’ve been meaning to ask you, but — ,” he paused and said “I mean — well I kinda was wondering if like it isn’t like traumatizing or something if — ” Sarah interrupted “You wanna know what happened to Anna.” Mike continued “Everyone does. I mean we know that janitor guy Mackey did something to her, but — Never mind, I shouldn’t asked.” “No it’s Okay. I mean I know you all wanted to know anyway. We were six years old and just started school. Anna and I were playing in the hallway near the door to the auditorium. Anna had brought eggs to school because we thought we could hatch them into baby chickens or something. Well when we figured out we couldn’t we opened a door to the basement and starting throwing the eggs into the door and down the stairway. Well, when recess was over we were going back to class and Ms. White had seen us and told us that we were going to clean up the mess while everyone else was drawing in class. We went back to the door and started wiping the door off and then Mackey the janitor came. We were all terrified of him because he was so big and was full scars and those brown teeth. Well, we got scared and started to run and he grabbed me on the arm and asked if we had cleaned the steps off too. Anna told him we did, but we really didn’t. He pulled us back to the door and had opened it. Anna was always the tough one of us so as soon as he opened the door Anna pushed him and told me to run. Mackey couldn’t catch his balance because the steps were slippery from the eggs. He tried to grab on to something as he fell and grabbed Anna. She yelled to me to come kick him off of her but I was too scared. The last thing I saw was her struggling to get away from him but she couldn’t and they both fell off the side of the stairs.” “Holy crap that must’ve been a 40 foot drop,” Mike laughed. “It’s not funny, Mike!” she yelled. He stopped the car in front of her house. Sarah then got of the car and slammed the door. Mike yelled to her “Hey! I’m sorry!” “I’ll pick you up in the morning!” he continued. She said “whatever” and went into her house.
The next morning, Mike pulled in front of Sarah’s house. The two rode to school barely saying a word outside of customary greetings. The teens pulled into the school parking lot and parked the car. They were walking into school when Mike decided to say “Sarah, look! I’m — “Sarah interrupted “No, it’s cool. I totally overreacted.” Mike then said “No, it’s not cool. That was a traumatic thing that you went through. That jerk killed your best friend and she was only a little girl. My brother says that the cops said he could have pulled himself up but he was intentionally trying to pull her down. That guy deserved to die for killing a little kid.” As they walked into the school he continued “Yeah, that’s why they think this place is haunted or something.” Sarah said “Why would this place be haunted? It happened at the elementary school.” Mike said “Dude, you don’t know! This is the old elementary school. They built a state of the art elementary school down the road. Rich parents want their little darlings in a nice new building and too many accidents here.” Sarah stopped and began looking around the halls “but it looks completely different.” “They remodeled the place last year,” he said, “Of course it looks different.” Sarah dropped her books on the floor and then turned and looked at one of the doors. “That’s it.” Mike said. “Are you okay?” he asked. “I ‘” I just need a — I’m okay” she responded. The two walked into class and as Sarah looked down the hall, she caught a glimpse of Anna standing in the hall. As another student walked in front of where she was, she disappeared. Sarah went into the classroom and took her seat.
Sarah was sitting in class when a message came over the school speaker calling Sarah to the Administrative office. Sarah got up and started to walk to the hallway when she caught a glimpse of Anna walking down an adjacent hall. Sarah went to investigate what she saw but the girl was gone. She looked down another hall and she saw a door opening. She ran to the door and went into it where she saw another door open. She went to the door and saw that it was a closet and on the floor was a child’s pink book bag with the name “Annabelle” written on it. She reached down to pick it up but the door slammed shut keeping her inside. The door leading to what appeared to be an unused hallway also slammed. Sarah tried to open the door, but it wouldn’t open. She screamed for help for several hours but no one came. Hours after being trapped in the closet the door opens and a little girl is standing there. “Anna” Sarah said “how can that be you?” “Quiet or he’ll hear us,” she whispered. Sarah noticed from the lights that it was after dark and began to realize that she was probably alone in the school. A loud screeching sound echoed down the hallways followed by several loud thuds. “What was that?” Sarah said. “He knows we’re here!” she said in a terrified voice. “How do I get away from him?” She asked Anna. “The basement — he’s scared of the basement!” she whimpered. Sarah then looked out the door and said “We’re going to run for the doors. I want you to stay behind me.” She looked back and Anna was gone. Sarah then ran out of the closet and into the main hallways when she collided with a dark figure and screamed. “What the hell are you doing!” Mike said painfully as he got up off the floor. Immediately, following that the teens heard a loud man’s scream. “Sarah, what was that?” Mike said. “What are you doing here?” she asked. “What am I doing here?” he said sarcastically. “What are you doing here? Everyone is worried sick and I thought I’d look here for you. I broke in of course.” They begin to here doors closing. “Sarah, let’s get the hell outta here now!” he exclaims. Sarah says, “I can’t leave Anna again!” “Anna is dead! Let’s get outta here!” he screams. He grabs her arm and they run for the exit. As they near the exit, the security gate crashes in front of the doors. They then run to another hall and as soon as they get to that exit, the security gates crash in front of them again. The two startled teens stop in a panic and begin to pace in circles when Anna appears and startles Mike into falling on the floor. “He wants all of us now!” Anna says. “You said the basement. Will we be safe in the basement?” Sarah asks. “Yes, but you have to run!” The two teens run towards the basement and Sarah screams “Come on Anna,” but the girl says “I can’t” and disappears. The two teens run to the basement door and enter. When they enter all the screams stop and they walk down stairs. The stairway behind them becomes covered in a black mist. They enter the basement and see that someone is in there lying on the floor. He is dirty and looks beaten and is whimpering “Help me!” Sarah looks at him and says “Oh my god! It’s him.” Mike says “Mackey?” He says “I’m trapped here. Tormented forever.” “You deserve it you bastard for what you did to her!” Sarah yells. Mackey begins to laugh “For what I did to her? I was a Christian man. She did this to me!” “My god, I remember. She wasn’t trying to get away from you. She was kicking you off the edge of the stairway. You grabbed her leg trying to save yourself!” An evil female voice then says “You should have never left me, but now you never will!” The teens scream in horror and moments after nothing but silence.
