It’s potluck time and time to shine. Things have to look, smell and taste good for people to try out the dish you have prepared. It used to be embarrassing to me, when mine was the only one left at the church table.
So what to do?
Bring a good ole cheese ball. Everyone loves it and it can’t go wrong. My husband aunt made it once for Thanksgiving and since then this is my standard show off appetizer everyone likes.
1.Two packs of Cream Cheese (Store Brand is fine)
2.Half a Jar of Dried Beef
(Only one company seems to make it. It is a tiny jar usually in the canned meat section next to the tuna)
3. A bundle of Green Onions
4. A Pack of Nuts from the Baking Aisle
(if you want to fancy it up)
5. (Soy sauce)
Well I never made it with that, but someone told me, that it works with her cheese balls)
6. A Box of Ritz Crackers
(You don’t need any salt because the dried beef has enough salt.)
So here is how it works:
1.Cut the green onions (the light green part and the white part) in tiny slices.
2. Do the same with the dried beef.
Mix it with the Cream Cheese. It works better if the Cream Cheese is left out for a couple hours.
3. (Add the soy sauce if you want to)
4. Roll it in a Ball
5. Spike the ball with the nuts to fancy it up.
6. Place on a cheese or serving plate and surround it with crackers.
Don’t give it away! It’s so simple! Just take the compliments. I try not to tell every time but then I am packed with guild and reveal the secret.
