As we gather to join our voices and hearts
in thanks for blessings we share,
for home and food and family
and those for whom we care,
we also thank the ones who came
before us to forge a new life,
sustained by faith that a time would come
when we might face less strife.
For those no longer earth-bound
in whose blessings we still partake,
thank You for the love and pain
they gave for a future’s sake.
And for steadfastness of seasons,
knowing winter is followed by spring,
reminding us that come what may,
there’s a season for everything.
We offer thanks for our mother earth
from which all nourishment flows,
and ask to be mindful earth-keepers,
knowing we need what she grows.
For music and moonlight,
for cool rains and healing sun,
for the creatures who feed us or help us
or simply make life more fun,
For color and texture and laughter,
for the joy of singing and scent,
we’re thankful for the chance at life
in bodies we’ve been lent.
For all who serve and help us,
including those unseen,
we give thanks for their contributions,
as well as those on our life’s screen.
We’re thankful for flexibility,
allowing for learning and change,
and especially the sacred ability
to forgive and let thoughts rearrange.
For those no longer in our lives
whose love we carry forever,
we thank the Creator, the Spirit of Love
for the time we spent together.
As we gather our voices and hearts in thanks,
for the feast of harvest and sharing,
we ask Your blessing on those without
and open our hearts to caring.
May the Spirit of Love always guide us
in every choice we’re make,
and in daily interactions
find more joy in give than take.
