Men, We Love Our Toys!
Men, they say, love their toys. The only difference between a pre-teen, a teenager and a grown-up guy is the cost of his toys and how often he is willing to share those toys with his friends. So when it comes to Christmas gifts for men, forget the ties, the sweaters or the new pair of pants. For get the bottles of wine, vodka or whiskey, though they don’t hurt. The items that really make men rush down the stairs on Christmas morning are techie fits. These gadget and gismos transform men from the world of 30-, or 40- or even 50-somethings back to their days of youth. That’s when all that mattered was whether or not they were about to receive the football, baseball glove or basketball they had hoped for since Thanksgiving Day.
But now on Christmas these men are looking for the flat screen, high definition television, the Nintendo game set they’ve always wanted or an e-reader to help them catch up on their favorite author.
Flat Screen, High Definition Television
Nothing can lift your favorite guy out of his normal, working-class life and place him in the middle of pro football, NASCAR racing or college basketball like a large, flat screen, high definition television set. Prices vary depending on the size of the television, the picture quality and other features. You could spend between $500 and $1,600 depending on the brand name.
Though it sounds like its costs a lot, the television set offers the best value in terms of dollars spent on a Christmas gift when you consider how often it will be used. If your man spends most of every Sunday entreating friends and watching football, baseball or auto racing, it’s a much better value having him home and watching television than sending him out to the corner bar instead.
No one has ever said, “Honey, I’m going to curl up with the computer and go to bed,” because their too big, too awkward and they just get in the way of a happy marriage. But that has changed in the past few years as e-books, electronic readers, have become more popular and have come down in price. Amazon, Sony and Barnes and Noble currently offer their own versions that allow you to download material from the internet and then read it everywhere and any where you go: bed, the beach, the train station, lunch, ect. E-books make for the perfect tech Christmas gift for any guy.
A quick E-book comparison shows that the major differences are size, speed of download, battery life and ease of use. You’ll start at about $149 and go from there. With an e-book you’ll be able to take any book with you and enjoy some of the scores of thousands of free downloads available at websites such as Project Gutenberg.

Men are the worst at asking directions and they won’t have to if you select a GPS navigational system as a Christmas gift. If your boyfriend, husband or brother still hasn’t signed up for the GPS world, make him do it by giving him a gift that will save him from getting lost.
