I had an interesting conversation the other day with my hubby. Now bear with me here as I have been called an idealist/optimist on many occasions from various people even to the point of maddening others with my sunny outlook in the midst of adversity and hardships. I have never known an easy life, I have fought and scraped for every little bit I have, never known comforts of middle class, nothing but poverty and low income. Many years consisted of more than the average hardships, trials and obstacles yet despite this I have always felt blessed more than average.
Now knowing this, it has always been my opinion that this is a VERY abundant universe that provides for any need or wants we could ever ask for. This abundant universe offers the SAME opportunities for everyone to achieve success, wealth, joy etc. Yet if we do not have these things it is because we missed opportunities or did not see them for what they were and continue to miss opportunities. It also has to do with in your mind and heart, what you value in life as money does not mean as much to one as to it would another and such.
Yet with such a generous wealth the universe provides we still as an individual have every opportunity to achieve the level of success as we ourselves view success to be. Well in this discussion hubby made the comment he does not believe this to be so but that rather it is SOCIETY that determines how far in life you can go, take our area for example where he is a restaurant manager in a store that pays half the yearly income the same store anywhere else would pay and anywhere else the same store would also provide 401k and medical insurance. It is because there is no money in our area whether it is individual or business and really no jobs to be had much either here in a low populated area of nature and wilderness combined with harsh winters.
Therefore society ties him into this is as far as he will ever go, the most money he will ever make etc. Well then in my book these still places the opportunities for a better life and improved level of success on the individual with the choice to move to an area that would provide this. Yet as he says it also has to do with the labels society have imprinted upon you as a child whether it was parents or teachers, employers or friends telling you for example you were no good, bad, lazy etc. Now granted I do see the validity of his words here as I have seen first hand some of the affects of the labels of society and what they have done to my eldest son’s frame of thinking.
However in this case I say………. Well if society creates this small box in which one must think, work and live than is it not up to the individual to seize the opportunity to start changing the way one thinks? To start thinking above and out of the box that society has placed them in? If one thinks out of the box, then one can still have the opportunity to climb above the standards of life society has placed upon them and then still have the same opportunity as the next person to create their life of success as they view success. If one does not see opportunities and tends to miss the ones available then why not create the opportunities?
Just some food for thought, why not share yours?
