Gameshows have been a part of American pop culture for more than a half-century. It all started in the age of black and white television and now it has entered the high tech society we all live in.
We all remember watching our favorite gameshows and our favorite moments from them.
Let’s look at the five most stunning gameshow moments.
Who Wants to be a Millionaire? It’s been almost a decade since Regis Philbin graced our television screens every night of the week. Millionaire was a hit show, and we all got to see the first person win the million dollar prize. His name was John Carpenter, and he rolled through the series of questions easily to take the top prize.
Betty White on Super Password. Before Betty White became a pop icon, she was a frequent celebrity guest on many gameshows. She also was quite a competitor. On one memorable episode of Password she was giving clues to the contestant and when she didn’t get the correct answer from the contestant she threw the password holder into the crowd, at the wall, and everywhere else. We’ve never seen Betty White like that.
Kissing Richard Dawson. Richard Dawson was the host of Family Feud for years. He was known for kissing all the female contestants. One particular kiss he must have really enjoyed, because he ended up marrying contestant Gretchen Johnson.
The Price is Right Nipple Slip. Danielle Atkins was one of the models on Price is Right. During one segment, her top fell down a bit exposing her nipple for a couple seconds. For some reason, this slip didn’t get cut out of the taped show on its first run.
Mr. 75 – Ken Jennings on Jeopardy. For 75 nights, an engineer from Utah held court on Jeopardy. Ken Jennings not only beat his opponents, he destroyed them. His haul for those 75 episodes. $2.5 million. He was unbelievable to watch.
Here are my five, there are many more. What are some of yours?
