People who would like to see how the holidays are celebrated in Europe will be able to do so in downtown Birmingham during the first week of December. The new Birmingham Winter Markt, the brainchild of Birmingham’s Principal Shopping District and the Birmingham Winter Markt Committee, will take place from Dec. 3 to Dec. 5. The open-air market will include European-style drinks and food, holiday decorations and crafts, holiday greens and many other goods. Families will appreciate the market’s live reindeer and its Kids Activity Tent. The nearby Santa House is sure to be popular, and ice sculptures and live entertainment will create a festive and cheerful atmosphere. The market will be open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 3, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Dec. 4 and from 12 p.m to 4 p.m. on Dec. 5.
