According to the DUMBO/Vinegar Hill Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), produce found in local grocery stores typically travels more than 1,300 miles to get to your plate. Eating locally grown food in Vinegar Hill can be difficult for residents, but programs like the DUMBO/Vinegar Hill CSA make it a bit easier.
Sang Lee Farms supplies members of the CSA with over hundreds of different types of vegetables, herbs and flowers. Located in North Fork, Sang Lee is a Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York (NOFA-NY) Certified Vegetable Farm and meets the association’s organic production standards.
The 2010 CSA season will run until November 10th. New members should e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to their mailing list to find out when the 2011 season begins. Membership for the 2011 season comes on a first come first serve basis. For more information on membership requirements, visit their website here.
