Each week it seems like green tech gets better and better and scientists are finding newer ways of applying their knowledge to the practical world. In this same breath a Norwegian company that goes by the name EnSol has created a new type of prototype solar panel that could change how it is used in everyday application and could greatly increase the overall use of solar panels by the general public.
Solar panels have been around for a while now so; you’re probably wondering what makes this new twist on them so special? Well, basically the Norwegian company has come up with a new type of solar panel technology that is designed to be sprayed on any and all glass surfaces. That’s right, on any type of glass surface and its spray on and not only that but the company plans to push the envelope past this prototype and create a thicker type of solution that can be sprayed on exterior walls. Now as if this wasn’t amazing enough, they plan to also create a clip together type solution that could also be used on your roof of your house. How cool is that? Now all you would have to do to make your house eco friendly is walk outside and spray it down.
The solution works as a film and instead of having to be house in a structure it works more as a thin sealing semiconductor. If the technology is successful when widely tested we will no longer have to use the big solar panels to achieve the same effect and not only that it will be more accessible to the general public and the business world which will make life a whole lot greener and brighter. Also, unlike the current traditional solar panels that are silicon based, Ensol’s film solar panels contain metal nanoparticles that are then embedded in a transparent composite. This makes the solar panel itself even more environmentally friendly in terms of waste apart from the traditional solar panels.
While these new solar panels are far from being widely distributed yet, it provides a lot of excitement for us all to look forward to. Current solar panels are still quite expensive and in certain areas it can be hard to make them applicable, but with this new invention that could all change. Not only that, but the problem of solar devices not looking attractive enough the general public and the fact that some people find solar panels on a roof unattractive makes this new invention a great one. The transparency of this new solar panel will allow it to be used and applied everywhere and anywhere and not change the look of the things it is being applied to. This means that companies could start making all their products to use the spray on film and pass the savings on to the consumer after their purchase. This is for sure an exciting time for green technology and I can’t wait to see this new invention in wide use.
