As reported originally by Steve “Frosty” Weintraub of Collider.com, an image of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 “came across his friend’s desk” on November 4th. It’s slowly spreading across the internet labeled as a possible promo image for the film, set to open during the summer of 2012. Weintraub is quizzical as to the origin and use of the image, which could be a rehashing of a Star Trek 1 image, a new image being used for marketing purposes, or even something to be used in a calendar. The exact origin of the image is in question, too. Suggestions include Paramount and Bad Robot, but both have been ruled out by Weintraub. Fans are gleeful and critical at the same time about this image. Any leak associated with the new film is likely to garner excitement – but the movie is still not in production; filming will not be set until the final screenplay has been written. Check out the image at the link below. At least it would make a good wallpaper.
