The Protoss army can be a fierce challenge for any Terran player especially one trying to do a bio build without ghosts. Perhaps one of the most devastating pitfalls for new players is assuming that marines can hold their own against zealots when out in the open. This simply is not the case.
Terran players however do have one ace in the hole against nearly every Protoss gateway unit: the marauder.
This build however is not focused on a mass of marauders but rather a fast one to gain an early tempo advantage. There will be some micromanagement required but the point of the build is to capitalize early on a Protoss player. More often than not a Protoss will go 1 gate 1 core as it is the proper defense against reapers.
In this case you should be able to scout your opponent. Send an SCV ahead of your Marauder. Have the SCV attack move. This will force any enemy troops to focus down the SCV if they are also attack moving. Most likely you will hit a lone Stalker. With the SCV covering the Marauder you should be able to take out the stalker no problem.
Once you take care of the scouting stalker reinforce your Marauder with several more and constantly pump out men to contain your opponent. This will force him to either tech Voidrays to deal with your Marauders or Templar to storm them away. Either case this will allow you time to scan to prepare and to take a second base while he is stuck on one.
Additional Tips: What if he does not go one gate core?
If your opponent goes 2 gates and proxies zealots get a wall up and wait for shells to finish. Get a few marauders and kite the zealots to death and counter attack
If the protoss opponent goes a fast expand the early marauder can seriously punish him Just don’t get surrounded by probes.
Capitalize on the chance to fast expand which will really get your economy rolling. Making more Marauders or siege tanks can really stifle your opponent. However, don’t be careless with units. If they are getting attacked too much retreat and regroup to regain a numbers advantage against your opponent.
Keep an eye on your opponents’ base. It is critical to know if he is going air to counter your Marauders. Scan often and find out his tech when needed. Get Vikings if you see starport or even a robotics facility.
